Dear listener and reader of Soundville! Turn up the volume on your speakers because we are about to listen to and enjoy the new album "The Wow Signal" by electro producer Watermelon Boy. Watermelon Boy mixes various genres in his music, from Australian electro sound to dancehouse, reggaetono, and eurobeat. But he doesn't stop there, trust me. Dance pop sound, hip hop, rock electric guitars, and many more influences merge into the stunning album "The Wow Signal". When I first heard this release, I was struck by the sound quality and the rather complex mix. Watermelon Boy blends different rhythms, pads, and harmonies to convey a very cool mood through his music. Besides, the album "The Wow Signal" is a benchmark of how a true collaboration should sound. For recording and creating the release, Watermelon Boy invited various artists from different countries: Ghana, Fiji, Chile, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Jamaica! And each artist brought their unique charm, mood, and energy to the album. I love it! It's as if I found myself on a distant island in the center of the Pacific Ocean, and I'm not worried about anything except the cocktail that's running out in my glass. I think everyone would want to experience similar feelings, especially at the end of the workweek, especially in the middle of summer. Hurry up and play "Outside" and we start our party!
“Outside” is a slow warm-up, preparing us for what lies ahead. For this track, Watermelon Boy invited Magajie to add a unique charm to the sound. Sharp as ice beats and passionate saxophone, coupled with excellent vocals, give a sense of the approaching night, a slowly unfolding evening that heralds a stormy night. Starting the album with such a sound was undoubtedly the right decision, as "Memories" then makes you feel like you’re at a beach party, you can almost feel the warm breeze on your skin. Ha! It’s a great danceable tropical house track mixed with classic rave and Amapiano. The pumping rhythm immediately draws you in and makes you want to sway to the beat. The track’s great development brings a sense of calm and shuts off all thoughts, leaving only a pure desire to enjoy the music. I felt a special mood in "Glistening Sand." It's a very stylish, almost fashion-forward sound that transforms into a hypnotic wave of chill. Under "Glistening Sand," you can catch your breath, turn off your mind, and enjoy the warm, pumping pads, cool beats, and hypnotic sound. Smoothness blends with a sharp rhythm, constantly keeping you on the wave of great sound. The break won't be long! I completely gave in to the second part of the album, which is more experimental, sharp, and pulsating. It feels as though deep night has already fallen, and adrenaline is skyrocketing, just like the rhythm of the heart. "Spirit of the Lagoon (Famimora)" featuring Green Baker, with its Afro motifs and excellent bass, calls for organizing the most memorable party. The sound becomes more experimental, with brighter beats and textures.
This highlights "Spirit of the Lagoon (Famimora)" and allows for a new way to experience the music on the album. The wave of new sound continues in "Damn Son" with 2FISTD. It's simply a bomb with powerful electric guitars, impeccable bass, and strong rap vocals. The rock element in the album "The Wow Signal" is like jumping from a waterfall into the heart of the lake. It’s really cool, you know! And "Hall of Fame" (with BRYAN THE MENSAH and Jones 2.0) and "Break That Board" (with Mark Dwyer and Richie Loop) just beg to be put on repeat until you're exhausted from dancing. And that can easily happen, because from these tracks it seems as though a predawn haze is settling on the hot sand. The release concludes with the cool tracks "Outdoor Shower" and "Cheap Drinks & Bad Decisions," which seem to switch the beach atmosphere for the thrill of nightclubs.
In "Outdoor Shower," the perfect rhythm, sweet beat, and numerous electro vibes blend into a very juicy sound. You just want to be where Watermelon Boy is playing and party to this awesome music. Because that's exactly what's needed to completely reboot your consciousness. A special atmosphere reigns in "Cheap Drinks & Bad Decisions." I feel a slightly gloomy sound, a mystical fog mixed with the fire of passion. The colorful vocals in the track warn about the danger of the game, but you want to surrender entirely to the power of such an enticing voice. Well! That's wow! An excellent finale that reflects Watermelon Boy's music: juicy, intense, absorbing, and so chill. Just love it!
Hey Watermelon Boy! Thank you for releasing such cool music. In your rhythms, I felt incredible love and passion. It's pure inspiration that seeps into the consciousness and tunes into the summer vibe. Excellent sound quality, and so many collaborations! A huge amount of effort, time, and ideas have been invested in "The Wow Signal," and I just adore your sound. I hope to catch one of your performances someday; it would be really cool. I'll definitely throw a party with friends to your album, haha! And I'll always show it off! Let everyone hear such a unique and awesome sound.
